It is the last book of the New Testament, the only book of the new testament classified as apocalyptic literature, meaning it is prophetic in writing. It contains vivid imagery of disaster and suffering in the Battle of Armageddon, the Apocalypse Four Horsemen, and the Beast whose number is 666.

There are many approached to and interpretation of this book. Below are some of the beliefs in how it is to be interpretated.  In 1st of this series, “A Dialogue in Revelation,” will discuss this Christian Bible book, gaining panelists’ perspectives from Kristen Nave, author of “Wrestling to Trust, La Dawn Skeeters’s ordained minister and certified life skills coach, and Steven Shaw, founder of Misfit Ministry.

Belief 1: Preterist (pray-er-herst) Theory – believes that all revelation has been fulfilled in the past and the book now is a reference to John’s day.

Belief 2: Historical theory:  believes that revelation is going on in history, and revelation is the prophetic history of the church.

Belief 3: Historical-Spiritual Theory – believes that the two beasts are Imperial and Provincial Rome and that the point of the book is to encourage Christians. They believe that revelation has been largely fulfilled and the book is full of spiritual lessons for the church today (amillennialism view).

Belief 4: Futurist Theory – believes that the book of revelation is primary prophetic and the future of what is to come. book (premillennialist view).
